Measurement, Monitoring and Verification (MMV) of sites intended for storage of carbon dioxide and other products will be required for a number of purposes. These include verification of the site integrity, evaluating the movement of subsurface fluids and demonstrating that stored products are behaving as predicted. Understanding of the MMV technologies and approaches that are appropriate for each specific product and site is the key to develop a cost-effective and efficient MMV programme.
Quintessa has experience in reviewing technologies and approaches for MMV of possible CO2 storage sites. In collaboration with BGS, Quintessa simulated the movement of CO2 in different kinds of CO2 storage sites as a basis for judging which MMV technologies and approaches would be appropriate in each case.
