Quintessa

Quintessa was founded in 1999 with the aim of providing an enjoyable and fulfilling working environment in which talented scientists and mathematicians can use their problem solving skills to help clients address key issues.

We believe that inspiring future generations to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects is not only crucial for a young person’s educational development, but to our future.

A number of our employees are STEM Ambassadors. There are many ways in which Quintessa can provide support to give young people the tools and information they need to make informed decisions about their future career opportunities, and to help ensure that they understand how important STEM is in our daily lives:

  • talks and hands-on activities in schools;
  • delivering hands-on activities to support completion of science and engineering based badges within community groups such as Girlguiding and The Scout Association;
  • attendance of Careers Events at secondary schools and universities; and
  • supporting mock interviews for students.

As part of our commitment to fostering positive partnerships, we have established track records of hosting undergraduate students in Mathematics, Physics and Geosciences from a number of universities, including the University of Bath and the University of Manchester, as part of their professional placement year, and also supervising PhD students at the University of Edinburgh.

Further, we support charities that seek to empower young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend university, including the provision of opportunities that give them insights into STEM careers and research and boosts their skills and confidence.
