In February, Quintessa delivered a training course on the AMBER compartment modelling tool in Toronto, Canada, to participants from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL).
The training course brought participants up to speed with the latest AMBER developments and addressed topics including modelling uncertainty and time-dependency. There were also hands-on sessions focused on applying AMBER to safety assessment for deep geologic radioactive waste facilities, including representation of near-field processes for spent fuel assessments and a simple model of interglacial cycling at the geosphere-biosphere interface.
