Supporting LLW Repository Ltd

Quintessa is pleased to announce that it is one of five lead-contractors which have been selected to support the LLW Repository Ltd’s Environmental Safety Case (ESC) Support Framework (Lot 2). Lot 2 of the ESC framework covers the provision of general professional services to support LLW Repository Ltd's ESC Team in fulfilling its regulatory obligations and undertaking its forward work programme. This support covers the provision of suitably qualified people to support the delivery of scoped packages of work. Review of Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage Risks

Quintessa has recently provided an independent review of containment risks in the Endurance aquifer for CO2 storage of the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP)’s Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) project. As a part of the independent review process, Quintessa analysed the potential threats to the environment, uncertainties in defining the storage site and storage complex, and highlighted potential areas for further studies, data gathering and/or appraisal. Quintessa’s participation in the project built on our existing expertise and knowledge in the sustainable utilisation of the subsurface, and demonstrated its continual commitment in providing a leading-edge scientific input and consultancy to facilitate a low carbon future. Training on Disused Sealed Radioactive Sources

Over a two week period in October and November, Quintessa provided a training course on the disposal of disused sealed radioactive sources (DSRS) to seven participants from the Bulgarian State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SERAW) remotely, via video conference. SERAW is responsible for the safe management of radioactive waste, including DSRS, generated by nuclear power and other nuclear applications. Full details…

Employee and Trustee News

Quintessa is pleased to announce that David Bailey joined the company on 1st December 2021 at Quintessa's Henley-on-Thames office, where he is a member of the Maths and Software team. He is an experienced software developer, with a history of creating bespoke data processing algorithms/workflows tailored to the data interpretation requirements of clients. David will be supporting software development activities for a range of clients and will be helping develop Quintessa’s compartmental modelling tool, AMBER.

Quintessa is also pleased to announce that Ian Hiscock has been appointed as a new External Trustee Director to sit on its Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) board from April 2022. Ian has extensive experience of employee ownership models, governance and culture having spent 29 years working in the John Lewis Partnership. Since leaving John Lewis in 2019, Ian has set up his own company (IHC) focusing on supporting employee-owned businesses, acting as an Independent Trustee, and providing facilitation services.
